Mailchimp on AI – an email marketer’s dream come true!

Getting a marketing email ready is not easy. Takes time and money – and a lot of creativity.

Mailchimp has announced a beta launch of what they are calling the Email Content Generator, which uses OpenAI’s GPT technology. This tool can create marketing copy that can be dragged and dropped onto emails that they will send to their customers.

Mailchimp feels that AI-driven content is the future of marketing email.

The tool can come up with industry-specific copy and based on the purpose of the email and marketing material that the business has used in the past. More detailed instructions can be given (including emotion), and the tool generates the draft of the email. If the user is not happy with what it comes up with, they can ask for re-writes. They can also write / edit the copy themselves.

Mailchimp has incorporated AI earlier which helps marketers generate subject lines to emails – one of the very important aspects of email marketing which influences the email open rates.

If users aren’t satisfied with what the system generates, they can ask it to rewrite messages or, of course, they can edit the copy themselves.

What we think about Mailchimp and AI

This is certainly a huge time-saver. Marketers can use this to come up with messages much quicker than ever before. With specific instructions, marketers can get copy that incorporates all their requirements, with a tone of voice of their choosing.

But far more importantly, this can help marketers come up with a hundred variations of the same email that they can use to send sharper and more defined customer segments – which has been time-consuming in the past.

The AI can produce variations based on the customer segment – which means sharper targeting and better results and conversions.

Greater personalization is possible with AI doing most of the hard work. It can create copy that will resonate with any person, any kind of audience or customer-segment. This will go a long way in increasing both engagement and conversions.

The tool comes up with variations of subject lines – a very important aspect of email marketing. What appears as the subject line can either make a user open the email or just junk it altogether.

In other words, AI in this tool can save a lot of mind time – it will help marketers get the job done, much quicker than ever before.

Since this saves so much of time and effort that marketers would have had to invest in email marketing, it frees them up for more important tasks like strategizing the whole campaign, for instance.
