Instagram Account Status Tool - Compliance Related Content Distribution Challenges Averted.
Published: December 08, 2022
Instagram announced today that it’s expanding its account status hub with new transparency tools for professional users to manage and distribute their social content.
With this new update, users can:
Check if the account’s content can be recommended – This will make it easier for businesses to know if their content is eligible to be recommended to non-followers in places like Explore, Reels, and Feed Recommendations.
Understand Issues – If the content is not eligible for recommendations, users can view a sample of content or components that may go against recommendation guidelines along with an explainer of why they may be in violation of platform policy.
Fix Problems – Users can edit or delete posts in alignment with the recommended guidelines. They can also request Instagram’s review team to take another look if they think their content is being flagged erroneously.
“We know that, for many creators, having Instagram recommend your content is a great way to reach new fans and grow your audience. That’s why it’s important to us that creators understand our guidelines and are able to know if something they’ve posted or have in their profile may be impacting their reach to non-followers. It’s also why we’re introducing the ability to disagree with our decision so our review team can take another look as quickly as possible and we can continue to improve our detection technology.” Instagram announced in its blog post.
How Account Status Update can Aid Social Media Marketers with Content Engagement and Distribution?
With these updates, the social network is looking to provide more transparency and demystify ‘shadowbans’. This feature can come in handy for creators and businesses alike to maximize brand presence in the app.
Earlier the marketing teams did not have much clue about why their posts are not getting enough visibility and engagement. They might have tried several methods to boost engagement and expand reach.
However, with this new update, they will have greater insights into what’s happening behind the scenes. If their posts are not getting the expected reach or if followers complain they are unable to view updates, brands can now quickly check if everything is as it should be. They can assess if their content confirms to community guidelines with certainty and take the necessary action to remedy any issues within a single window.
This will relieve some pressure off the marketers who can dispel suspicion of restrictions in reach. Instagram is being upfront with this, and so marketers can make the best use of this tool to help them correct known issues.
Not to belabor the obvious. Despite checking under the account status for any breach of violations, if marketers feel their reach is still plateauing, then the problem is with the content and not a technical issue. Thus, marketers can be rest assured that their content is being distributed and recommended across different parts of Instagram.
